What people say
Time out is a lifeline for our family and a support service that we are so very thankful for and could not now manage without it, as we have come to depend on it.
Timeout is truly an exceptional support service and very much needed by the young people who attend and their families and one which we are very grateful for.

TOG have been a great addition to our lives.
Prior to our children getting a place we could never go anywhere, and home was
beginning to feel like a prison, especially so for our son, who was always very fearful of
being taken outside of his established routines. However, since joining the group, he has
grown in confidence and now loves being taken on different outings, always flapping his
arms and smiling to show his enjoyment.

Our daughter, although physically able, depends on a pushchair and one-to-one support to keep her safe, as she has no danger or stranger awareness. Again, through her outings with TOG, she is gaining confidence to visit new places and is beginning to engage more with team members and her surrounding environment. She now willingly runs to jump on the bus, heading straight for her familiar front of the bus seat.

Aside from the benefits provided to the children, TOG group has really benefited us
as parents, allowing us to leave the house for a couple of hours on a Saturday morning .
TOG group provides a wonderful service supporting families like ours. The staff are all
amazing and all work tirelessly to ensure every child feels supported, valued, and
empowered.

Timeout is a life saver for my son. He loves attending and the staff get him. He loves going out and about in the community and on trips . The holiday club has a massive impact and allows us time with his sister. He especially loves the journey on the mini bus which makes it a real adventure. He loves knowing it’s Timeout week and is always excited to attend . Because he doesn’t attend a school setting it’s important for him to get interactions with peers. Timeout group sessions allow time for us and his sister knowing he’s safe and well looked after and happy.

We as a community are very fortunate to have Time Out Group, which my son attends. The carers are highly professional, and expertly trained, offering the one-to-one care he needs. The time this has given myself and my daughter has been invaluable - we use this time to run important errands for school, university etc. We also are able to see family, something very challenging to do with a special needs child. Most importantly, the club also gives my son the opportunity to have some independence.

Time Out is fantastic for our son. The days out on trains, to the park, to farms, National Trust properties and more offer him a few hours of respite and fun and allow him to socialise with children other than those he sees at school and home. The staff are excellent, kind and understanding and are always happy to see him, which makes his experience even better from start to finish.

He loves seeing the Time Out minibus because that promises an excursion to a place he’s either been before and loved or an adventure somewhere new. The regular fortnightly sessions are consistent, dependable and he very much looks forward to them. We as parents love seeing the grin on his face when we tell him he has a session coming up soon. If the Time Out group ceased to run it would be devastating for him, and he would struggle to understand why he no longer could go and have fun with his friends and experience new places. This would in turn have a detrimental impact on us as a family because we’d have to manage his disappointment and seek an alternative day of release for him.

Our daughters both have special needs. One attends a residential setting in the week and comes home at weekends when our other daughter attends Timeout Group, giving us an afternoon to spend dedicated to the daughter we don’t see during the week. This really helps us as a family, as our other daughter is having a great time developing her independence skills and her tolerance of spending time with peers, getting out and about in the local community.
Time out is truly an exceptional support service, and very much needed by the young people who attend and their families.
